Appeal for Earthquake Pakistan
PAKISTAN – BALUCHISTAN – EARTHQUAKE,
There is great destruction, not a single house is intact after an earthquake in Ziarat, about 130 kilometers (81 miles) south of Quetta, Pakistan, on Friday, Oct. 29, 2008. A 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck an impoverished mountainous region of Pakistan's Baluchistan province before dawn on Wednesday. This earthquake demolished more than 3,000 homes and made about 15,000 people homeless in this area. The death toll from the earthquake in southwestern Pakistan is more than 300.
The people are lying under the open sky in freezing temperature. HUNDREDS of children left homeless by a devastating earthquake in different surronding villages and are suffering from potentially life-threatening dysentery and pneumonia. The main needs are tents, blankets, medicines and water and food.
The team of Calvary Organization has been doing rescue operation and helping people in this worse time. Another team has left for effected areas with available medicine and other necessities. We have already been involved in the previous earthquake in southern part of Pakistan and served the effected people in different aspects. Our team is again much active in helping and serving.
